Well, the May Flower classes are over. I will be taking a break for the summer, as I will be spending time with kids, and teaching Summer Camps for most of the summer. I also have some projects which I will be working on: wedding gifts for dear friends, more artistic clothes for myself, and workshop planning for the fall.
If you are interested in seeing some of my textile work in person, I will be displaying some on the New Territory Community Art Wall, at The Club, beginning June 1. Please come out and see it! It is my first show, and I have worked really hard finishing pieces and getting things ready for it.

In honor of Earth Day this month, we will be exploring the concept of upcycling – where you take things out of the waste stream and transform it into something better. First up is making sweet little journals from materials saved from the recycle bin.

I am very excited to be showing some NEW natural dyeing techniques tomorrow morning. You will have your choice of two different options: hot avocado or cold flower. See you tomorrow!

With the cold weather at the beginning of February, I definitely got in a scarf kind of mood. However I know that this is the Houston area, where temperatures below freezing just aren’t normal! So this month, we have been playing with silk scarves – floaty and elegant, and so versatile when it comes to decorating.
I did a repeat of the glowing scarf class from last December last week. They turned out GORGEOUS! I should be getting a pic of the best one to post on the site soon.
This week I’m going to be showing how well silk takes to natural dying. Can’t wait to see you there!

This week’s class focuses on a simple but elegant bookbinding technique. We will also discuss other methods of using this technique.
